We are a fabulous New and Resale Designer Children’s Apparel store located in the historic Ravinia business district of Highland Park, Illinois. We feature an extensive selection of gently used designer children’s wear AND exclusive lines of new clothing and gift items – for boys and girls, from newborns to teens. No other Chicago-area consignment store is quite like our very upscale boutique. We focus on the most current styles from the most sought-after fashion forward European and American children’s clothing labels.

Also setting Principessa apart will be our selection of Designer Special Occasion clothing for teens and “tweens”. Principessa Children’s boutique will make it possible for girls (and their parents) to turn their own gently used party clothes into cash, as well as to get different, stylish outfits at a fraction of what they would cost in a retail store. Principessa will offer private in-store appointments as well as at-home shopping opportunities for special occasion clothing customers.

How We Started:

In early 2002, I first discovered a world of children’s boutique shopping on eBay. I found that I could easily dress my then year-old daughter in all new upscale brands I loved from stores like Neiman-Marcus and Nordstrom for a fraction of the retail cost. On eBay, I started connecting with boutique and internet store owners from across the United States and joined many Yahoo groups populated by other mothers who were also looking for high-end children’s clothes at lower-end prices. By the end of 2002, I started selling my daughter’s gently used designer clothing on-line. With the profits I made, I was able to dress my little fashionista-in-training with stylish new clothing purchased at my local Chicago-area boutiques and department stores.

By 2004, I had developed a large following of loyal eBay customers from all over the United States – all buying my daughter’s gently worn clothes. My husband, began joking that instead of buying clothes for our daughter, “Aimee leases them for one or two-time only use.”

That year, I began operating Principessa Children’s Boutique out of my house and opened an eBay store under the same name. Word of mouth spread and soon I was accepting consignments from an ever-growing circle of friends and friends of friends – all of whom loved making money on their children’s used designer clothing.
